One Evening Elegant Pouch

Start this little pouch on a Friday night and have it done in time to go out Saturday night!  Knit in the round with a simple yarn over stitch it makes a great beginner project.

 

Materials:  1 Hank Louisa Harding Sari Ribbon (bulky yarn - 60 yds.)

    Size 15  16 inch circular needle

     Size 15 Double Point Needles

     ¼ yd lining fabric

 

 

Gauge:  7 sts = 3 in. in stockinette st using  size 15 needle

  

Abbreviations:   K     knit

                       K2tog    knit two stitches together

                       Yo    Wrap yarn over right needle

 

Cast on 37 sts. 

 

Join in the round and knit 3 rows.

 

Pattern row 1:  K1 (yo, k2tog) to end

 

Pattern row 2:  Knit

 

Repeat pattern rows until pouch measures 10 in. from beginning.

End with a knit row.

 

Start the bottom decreases.

Round 1:  (k4, k2tog) around, end k1

 

Round 2:  Knit

 

Round 3:  (k3, k2tog) around, end k1

 

Round 4:  Knit

 

Round 5:  (k2, k2tog) around, end k1

 

Round 6:  Knit

 

Round 7:  (k2tog) around, end k1

 

Round 8:  Knit

 

Round 9:  (k2tog) around, end with 5 sts.  Draw yarn through remaining stitches and pull closed.

 

 

For Draw String cut 3- 50 inch pieces.  Place a knot 3 inches from one end.  Braid together, finish with a knot 3 inches from end.  Weave draw-string through first pattern row.

 

For lining, cut fabric to fit inside, form a tube, sew together. Draw together one end and stitch.  Fold over top edge and sew down.  Stitch lining in along top edge of the pouch.  ENJOY!
